2012 – The Year of Ultimate Success

April 9 – Tip of the Week

Shawn, over the last couple of weeks, we have been exploring the conversation called trust.  We will be looking at the last 2 assessments in the coming weeks.  Before we do that - and as we move into the late spring and early summer seasons, I wanted to ensure that these high traffic social seasons can be used to your biggest advantage for causing 2012 The Year of Ultimate Success.  My friend Darren Jacklin has shared with me a key concept of success and I am now sharing it with you.

The Law of Association

Remember growing up as a kid and sometimes your mother or father didn’t want you playing with a certain kid in your neighbourhood or at or after school. Well as you grow older you start to realize that your relationships, financial health, attitude, levels of success in your job, business or career, and everything else about your life will tend to be very close to the average level of each of these conditions in your five closest friends and associates.

You may have heard these statements growing up:

  •        Birds of a feather flock together.
  •        You’re known by the company that you keep.
  •        Show me where you fish, I’ll show you what you catch.

You are the combined average of the five people you associate with the most including the way you walk, talk, act, think and dress. Your income, your accomplishments, even your values and philosophy will reflect them.  If the five people around you have negative philosophies, it’s virtually impossible for you to have a positive philosophy. If the five people around you are consistently complaining and griping and living in the past, blaming others for their difficulties, and thinking and acting in a generally negative way, then what are the odds of you finding your way onto the highway of success? Slim to none.

Surround yourself with people who are positive, have traits you admire and inspire you to be a better you.
